Despacito from Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi Luis Fonsi, who is a Puerto Rican singer Daddy Yankee became the song most streamed in less than six months. The song was a mix of reggaeton and pop music that attracted attention to Latin music but also reggaeton. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs that were Spanish generally, and four in the year 2016. During the height of Despacito's popularity in 2017 however 19 mostly Spanish songs made it to the Top 100, and in 2020 there were 41 such songs. Justin Bieber's bilingual version of Despacito was released in the year. Then, numerous pop stars began to collaborate with reggaeton artists. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny for MIA (2018), and Madonna collaborated with Maluma for the release of Medellin. A few performers of reggaeton lamented the trend towards mainstream music in 2020. But a new group, Rauw Alejandro wanted to maintain the development and growth of reggaeton. The genre often incorporated electronic dance, as well as other styles.
